February 7: ch 33, "The Specksynder" - ch 40, "Midnight, Forecastle"
February 13: ch 41, "Moby Dick" - ch 47, "The Mat-Maker"
March 5th: ch 48, "The First Lowering" - ch 54, "The Town-Ho's Story" (???)
March 12th: ch 55, "Of The Monstrous Picture of Whales" - ch 58, "Brit"
March 19: ch 59, "Squid" - ch 65, "The Whale as a Dish"
March 26: ch 66, "The Shark Massacre" - ch 73, "Stubb and Flask Kill a Right Whale, and Then Have a Talk Over Him"
April 2:: ch 74, "The Sperm Whale's Head - Contrasted View" - ch 81, "The Pequod Meets The Virgin"
April 9:: ch 82, "The Honour and Glory of Whaling" - ch 88, "Schools and Schoolmasters"
April 16: ch 89, "Fast-Fish and Loose-Fish" (!!!!) - ch 96, "The Try-Works"
April 23: ch 97, "The Lamp" - ch 105, "Does the Whale's Magnitude Diminish - Will He Perish?"
April 30: ch 106, "Ahab's Leg" - ch 116, "The Dying Whale"
May 7: ch 116, "The Dying Whale" - ch 124, "The Needle"
May 14: ch 125, "The Log and Line" - ch 132, "The Symphony"
May 21: ch 133- "The Chase - First Day" - Epilogue
The reason that the reading is a little funky is that I tried to maintain a pretty consistent amount of reading (so it isn't a bunch of really long chapters one week and seven one-paragraph chapters the next) as well as trying to keep a balance between the really! interesting! facts! about whales! and the more adventurey chapters. And not expecting anyone to read more for the week after the work of art that is "Cetology." How well I succeeded, well, we'll burn that bridge when we get there.
Let me know if Saturday check-ins don't work for everybody; I figured it would be more convenient to have the whole weekend for reading and chatting (as well as the whole week, of course).

Date: 2015-12-30 12:59 am (UTC)Now the question is, do I keep going (which means I'll forget what I thought about 1-7) or stop and wait for Jan 9 (which means I'll forget I was doing this at all)?
